SEASON FINALE

When Permits Run Out... - The past seven Saturdays, Mother Nature was kind enough to provide the weather, the Parks Dept provided the permits, and New Yerk area comedians provided the talent for seven straight weeks of Funnyball. Highlighted by the game featuring the UCB vs. the Magnet theaters, (featured in THE APIARY) Funnyball put gloves on nearly 75 comedians paving the way for a bigger and better Funnyball 2011. "Thank you" to everyone that took part. Also, remember to do a lot of steroids this offseason.

It's Coming... - I made a new logo for my annual challenge to eat at least a slice of pizza a day for the whole month of October (National Pizza Month). Now that the logo is set, how about some new recommendations (previous places reviewed)? Here is a short list of some I've been recommended and intend to visit this October...

Saraghina (BRKYN), Paulie Gee's (BRKYN), Patricia's of Morris Park (Bronx), Louie & Ernie's (Bronx), Rose & Joe's Italian Bakery (Queens), J&V Pizzeria (BRKYN), Sam's Restaurant (BRKYN), Mario's (BRKYN), Toby's (BRKYN), Brooklyn Pizza (NYC), Totale Pizza (NYC), Amore (Queens), Colicchio & Sons (NYC), Saluggi's (NYC), Bar (New Haven, CT), Grimaldi's (new one)...mmm, this October is gonna be so delicious!

And it will all be tracked here: 31daysofpizza.com

FALL-ing - I wish Autumn didn't always have to coincide with the demise of my favorite professional sports team. As a Mets fan, I have had to trade in mottos like "you gotta believe" and "Mets Magic" for the motto "we don't win often but we might win tonight!" While this is not as catchy, it keeps me excited to go to the ballpark. I went to a game last week that the Mets actually won. You could see, some of the players were almost as surprised as we fans were. If anyone is having trouble giving out extra tickets, count me in! It might not mean anything in the standings but, hey, we might just win!

Junior Varsity presents: Hot For Teacher - The last Thursday of every month, Junior varsity takes over the 10 o'clock slot at the Magnet Theater. Each show features guest "speakers" that monolog-ize about topics suggested by the audience to inspire scenes that will only be seen, heard, and performed once, but may very well be on the test!

We're Hot for Teacher. Are you?

Next chance to see it is Sep 23rd at 10p...
